YOUR OUTDOORS ROOM FOR SUMMER OR WINTER

Summer or winter the people I know with an outdoors room just love to use it. Some have it attached to their home others have it detached. Either way they are a favorite for sitting around with the family or having a party. If you have a pool it is even better because some will swim while other lounge in the shade of the room. One thing l love to see as part of an outdoor room is sliding glass doors. With these doors you can use the room in the winter and keep it nice and warm. Open the doors in the summer to have the beauty of the outside with all the comforts of the inside.
Anderson has great ones to choose from http://www.andersenwindows.com/product/folding-patio-doors/ . I have used the folding type of door in most of the remodels that I have done.
One thing to make sure you do when building the room is to put in insulation just like you would if you were adding a regular room to your home. This is so easy to do during construction and will make your room much more useful in all seasons. If you skimp on the insulation your room will be too cold in the winter. Also a fireplace is a nice touch for those winter evenings. Put a bar and sink in and at least a microwave. Make sure you can plug in a t.v. and maybe a movie screen and it can also be your theater.
What else is really important? Comfortable furniture, it may be more important in this room than in the rest of your home. When you are in this room you really want to relax. When I am buying for one of these rooms I always start at this site http://outdoorrooms.net/our-brands.html , great stuff for sale here. Cushions are always more comfortable on the furniture but I only use them with an outdoor room and not on a regular patio. When they are exposed on an open patio it is just too much work to take them in and out during the rain and they are too hard to keep clean.
And always decorate this space just as if it was part of your home, because it really is. I promise if you do it right this will be the most used room in your home.
